About
Our Journey
Poop & Scoop is a family-owned business proudly serving Oakland County. Our journey began when our founder, Thomas, realized just how time-consuming and unpleasant cleaning up after dogs could be—especially for busy families who simply want to enjoy a clean home and yard.
That’s when Poop & Scoop was created, with one simple mission: to give pet owners more time to enjoy their family and their pets—without the mess. Because after a long week, no one wants to spend their weekend cleaning the yard when they could already be enjoying it.
We’re here to make your life easier—one scoop at a time.
Why Pet Waste Removal Matters
Many pet owners don’t realize just how harmful it can be to leave dog waste in the yard. Beyond being a nuisance, uncollected dog poop poses serious risks to people, plants, and the environment:
🦠 Health Risks
Dog waste can carry dangerous bacteria and parasites like E. coli, parvo, giardiasis, campylobacter, salmonella, ringworm, and tapeworms. These can easily spread to other pets and even people—especially pregnant women and children, who are more vulnerable to infection.
🌿 Harm to Your Lawn and Garden
Dog poop contains excess nitrogen and potassium, which can:
Disrupt nutrient balance in the soil
Burn grass and plant roots
Stunt the growth of your lawn and garden
🌊 Environmental Impact
Dog waste is a serious pollutant. In fact, it contributes to nearly 30% of harmful bacteria in urban waterways. According to the EPA, just two days’ worth of waste from 100 dogs can carry enough bacteria to temporarily close an entire bay or watershed area to swimming for up to 25 miles—a major concern here in Michigan, where water systems are vital to our communities.
🐾 Long Decomposition Time
Dog poop takes 3 to 4 months to fully break down on its own. During that time, harmful bacteria and parasites can seep into the soil and local water systems, creating long-term contamination.
At Poop & Scoop, we’re not just here to make life easier—we’re here to help keep your yard, your family, and your environment safer.
